I have many memories of Sandra and I hanging out as kids. She lived on Nile Street and I lived on Roland Street. Back then that was nearing the end of Grant Road not far from Pangborn Airport. We road bus together which was a bit of a ride. But not as long a ride as the kids who lived in Orondo. We spent alot of time together during summer breaks. I would ride my bicycle to her house or she to mine. One summer we harvested raspberries together on a small farm on Nile Street. As is true of all of East Wenatchee, our little area has changed beyond my recognition. In our childhood around Nile Street and Roland Steet were dry land wheat fields, no orchards. Grant Road turned into a dirt road just past the turn off to Pangborn Airport. You could take that dirt road to Rock Island. That was the back way to get there. It was little more than a cow trail. But it was fun to ride our bikes with no worries of traffic. Now it is a paved roadway. After graduation, she and I went our separate ways as so many of us did and we lost touch with one another. My memories are happy memories of she and I. I will always carry that with me.
